Introduction
Programmatic assessment is a holistic approach that emphasizes the intrinsic link between assessment and learning. In programmatic assessment, a program of assessment tasks is carefully designed to direct and stimulate the student's development process and to gain meaningful insight into their progress. Effective feedback is one of the key principles of programmatic assessment. Students get information about where they stand in their learning process and can use that information to shape their learning. The longitudinal collection and aggregation of data enables valid and reliable decisions about progress and the allocation of credits.

More information
In programmatic assessment, there are four specific roles a teacher can potentially fulfill, namely, designer (of datapoints), feedback provider, mentor (or coach) and decision-maker. These roles can be performed by different teachers, but a teacher can also take on multiple roles.
The Microlabs on programmatic assessment have a flexible design, which is tailored to the needs of each group, but always focusing on one or more of these four roles. The Microlabs are only offered on request, for groups from a program that works or will work with programmatic assessment. A single MicroLab can focus on one or two roles of programmatic assessment, e.g. a Microlab focused on decision-making is very suitable as preparation for future decision committee members. Alternatively, a package of two Microlabs can be offered covering all four roles, e.g. to complement a UTQ. Integration into a customized BEQ trajectory for a group is also a possibility. If your program, team or section is interested in (one of) the Microlabs on programmatic assessment, please contact training@risbo.eur.nl.
Rob Kickert on the MicroLab he attended with his colleagues:
"The MicroLab was not only an opportunity for us to master the basics of programmatic assessment, but also a great place for the mutual exchange of ideas and having discussions about good assessment together, with an emphasis on learning, good feedback and growth. It aligned us even more and was, I think, a great starting point for ongoing development of our team."
