Introduction
Feedback is only effective when students act upon it and when it is given during the learning process. This is one of the core insights that have led to the development of a new feedback paradigm. This new paradigm focuses on creating a feedback culture where students embrace feedback as an opportunity for growth and development. Central to this paradigm is the development of both student and teacher feedback literacy. As teachers, your role in enhancing students' learning experience through sustainable feedback is crucial. Not only by providing them with constructive and sustainable feedback, but also by creating an environment in which students can actively engage in the feedback process and develop their self-regulation skills.
By enhancing your own ability to provide constructive and meaningful feedback, you model effective practices and inspire students to engage confidently in the feedback process. At the same time, equipping students with the skills to actively seek, interpret, reflect on, and act upon feedback fosters their self-regulation and independence. Together, we can transform feedback into an ongoing dialogue that empowers students as active participants and partners in their learning journey.

Target group and required prior knowledge
MicroLab is intended for teachers involved in feedback processes. This MicroLab is an optional part of the UTQ. It is complimentary to the MicroLab ‘How to supervise students’. It has some overlap with the TA/Tutor MicroLab “How to provide effective written feedback” but focuses more on feedback processes and dialogues and how teachers can enhance student feedback literacy.
Content, form and time investment
This MicroLab has a blended set-up; you start with an online preparation in Canvas. In a three-hour session we will dive deep into the new feedback paradigm, providing you with actionable strategies that you can implement immediately. To make the most of our time together, please ensure you complete the preparatory assignments. During the session, we will build upon these assignments to deepen your understanding and refine your approach to feedback. The total time investment is approximately 5 hours (preparation + MicroLab session).
Earn an Edubadge
If you made the preparation and participated in the session, you can earn an Edubadge. This is a digital, visual certificate which you can share on e.g. LinkedIn. Interested parties can immediately click on the certificate to find out what you have done to achieve the Edubadge.
