prof.dr. B (Brenda) Vermeeren

Biography

Prof. dr. Brenda Vermeeren is professor of Public Administration - Strategic HRM, Leadership, and Public Performance at the Department of Public administration and Sociology. Her research interests include the relationship between HRM and public performance and the role of line managers and employees in this relationship. A key driver in her work is connecting science and (policy) practice. She is a general board member of the Association for Public Administration (Vereniging voor Bestuurskunde) and an editorial board member of the Dutch HRM journal (Tijdschrift voor HRM). From 2008 to early 2023, she also combined her work at EUR with a position as an advisor at ICTU-InternetSpiegel (a program of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations). Furthermore, education runs like a thread through her career where she has been actively involved in education development and coordination for many years. Since April 2023, she is vicedean of education at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Brenda Vermeeren graduated cum laude from the Master in Public Administration at EUR. From 2008 to 2013, she worked as a PhD student in the Department of Public Administration at EUR. She defended her PhD thesis, entitled "HRM Implementation and Performance in the Public Sector" in March 2014. In recent years, she obtained her Senior Teaching Qualification, Senior Examination Qualification and Educational Leadership Qualification.
