Introduction
The Programme coordinator Student Engagement will focus on enhancing the student journey from start to finish, from enrolment to graduation. In this role, you will focus on project management and take the lead in designing and implementing events, workshops and larger ESHCC events to foster student engagement and wellbeing throughout the study programmes across the 3 departments of the School.
Job description
You will closely work with colleagues from the Professional Services team to welcome (back) students and support them in the transition to student life at the Erasmus University. You will need to have a good understanding of student matters to ensure that the student experiences are overall positive and their needs are effectively responded to.
You will be in contact with both students and staff to design the best possible workshops in topics such as student wellbeing, study success, personal development, and career opportunities. Together with the Education Professional Services team, and where possible with lecturers, you will make a positive and measurable contribution to the student experience and academic attainment.
You will be working in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment and, as such, the range of duties in this text are indicative. You will be expected to show flexibility and adaptability in meeting the developing needs of the departments of the ESHCC.
Tasks include:
Organize the Introduction week and mentor programmes for BA-1 and (Pre-) Master students across programmes;
Communicate with prospective students and with new BA-1 and Master students;
Keep students informed with regard to what is happening in departments and programmes and upcoming events via multiple channels;
Design and implement workshops and events for both bachelor and master students;
Make referrals to, and communicate with, other university departments that offer support services to students, for instance EUR’s wellbeing initiatives;
Organize the graduation ceremonies for the different programmes within the faculty;
Being responsible for the Master Career Orientation Programme of the School.
Job requirements
Requirements:
Work and function at Higher Vocational Education (HBO) working level and to be internationally oriented;
Have at least one year of work experience, preferably in the field of (higher) education;
Can interact and network effectively with diverse stakeholders;
Excellent organization and time management skills;
Experience with designing and implement workshops and events;
You are a team player, but can also work well autonomously;
Willing to work outside of normal business hours and able to work under pressure;
Fluent in verbal and written Dutch and English (C1 level).

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
The start date of this position is 1 May 2025 and you will be based at campus Woudestein in Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC). This position is for 0.8 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.378 to a maximum of € 5.331 gross per month Scale 10 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.

The Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communicationl (ESHCC) is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The school has three departments: History, Arts and Culture and Media and Communication.
ESHCC offers high quality education based on scientific research at the intersection of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Our ambitious Dutch and international students are educated in a stimulating learning environment. Upon graduation, they have acquired the knowledge, insight and skills to make important and inspiring contributions to an increasingly international society in which diversity plays a major role.
The faculty offers three bachelor's programs and three master's programs with a total of seven specializations, as well as two Erasmus Mundus programs and a research master. Most programs are internationally oriented and taught in English.
ESHCC hosts the research institute ERMeCHS (Erasmus Research Institute for Media, Culture, History & Society). Researchers at ERMeCHS are dedicated to conducting interdisciplinary research in the fields of media, communication, culture, history, and society.
