EUR Emergency Fund

Are you facing unexpected financial hardship during your studies due to unforeseen circumstances? The EUR Emergency Fund may be able to help.

The EUR Emergency Fund is intended for students who, during their enrolment at EUR, experience financial difficulties due to special, unforeseen, and temporary circumstances and can be assisted with a small, one-off financial contribution. The financial assistance is, for example, intended for students who face financial disadvantages due to a war or natural disaster in their home country, but also for students who find themselves in financial distress due to other acute, unexpected, and short-term personal circumstances who are temporarily unable to support themselves.

Amount of financial support

On the recommendation of the student dean, students can receive a one-off support payment of approximately €500 from the Emergency Fund. This support is aimed at alleviating the very acute financial stress.

Eligibility for the EUR Emergency Fund

The emergency fund is intended to cover primary living expenses, such as groceries, travel costs within the Netherlands, or medication. The condition is that the financial hardship is unexpected and temporary; after receiving the one-off gift or loan, you should be able to independently provide for your living costs again. The support is not intended for (ongoing) costs related to your studies, such as tuition fees or study materials.

If you wish to apply for financial support from the EUR Emergency Fund, please complete the application form and budget plan and send them, along with the required supporting documents, to the general email address of the EUR student deans. The student deans will review your application and supporting documents and assess whether you are eligible for assistance from the emergency fund. They may also set conditions for repayment. You will receive a response via email within two weeks.

Emergency Fund vs. Profiling Fund

There is a distinction between the EUR Emergency Fund and the Profiling Fund. The Profiling Fund is intended for students who have experienced study delays due to personal circumstances. Different conditions and procedures apply to the Profiling Fund. More information can be found on our page about force majeure.
