Biography
Marije Balt is foreign policy advisor and works with the Advisory Council on International Affairs. She is a former Netherlands government diplomat with nearly 25 years of experience working in and with fragile regions in the Balkans and Africa. She was posted at the embassy in Nairobi, Kenya from 2005 to 2010. Her firm SpringFactor research & consultancy has been working extensively with governments, companies, universities, the EU and NGOs. From 2012 tot 2020, she worked as a lecturer and taught more than 30 international relations courses to bachelor and master's students. She is currently pursuing her PhD and focuses on EU migration diplomacy with refugee hosting countries.
