Biography
Anna Priante is Assistant Professor at the Department of Technology and Operations Management (Business Information Management section) at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. The overarching theme of her research is the social impact of digital technologies. Within this overarching research theme, Anna's work is currently organized in three main research streams: 1) social media and collective action; 2) digitalization of education; and 3) the social impact of bots in social networks. In most of her work, she focuses on how social interactions and collective discourses afforded by technology form and evolve, as well as how they affect individual and collective outcomes that have an (ideally positive) impact on society. More recently, her research interests have broadened toward the social impact of digital technologies on more creative processes and outcomes.
Her work has been published in leading multi-disciplinary journals including New Media & Society, Social Networks, Nonprofit Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Sociology of Health and Illenss, and has appeared in multiple international conferences (Academy of Management Annual Meeting, International Conference of Information Systems, Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, American Sociology Association Annual Meeting, and International Sunbelt Social Network Conference).
Anna holds a Ph.D. with a Sociology major from the University of Twente (The Netherlands), a MSc in Sociology and Social Research and a BSc in Sociology from the University of Trento (Italy). Before joining the Rotterdam School of Management, she was Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation Management research group) at the University of Twente. In addition, she has been a visiting scholar on multiple occasions at the Department of Sociology of the University of California, Los Angeles.
