Every year Erasmus University China Centre (EUCC) organizes a Welcome Event for new China Scholarship Council (CSC) PhD students. During the event speeches from the Chinese Embassy - Education Section, Chinese staff member from the EUR, current CSC PhD students and the Erasmus University China Centre, provide an introduction. This event is an excellent opportunity for all PhD students to get to know each other across programs.
This year over 20 students have participated in the event. After a warm welcome speech by the director of China Affairs, Ms. Weichia Tseng, the counselor of Educational Section from Embassy of the P.R. China, Dr. LUO Ping, introduced the functions of the Chinese Embassy and gave a thought provoking speech to encourage students to learn more and enjoy more during their studies here. Besides, Dr. Qiuwei Pan, who works at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Erasmus MC shared his experiences of being a researcher in the Netherlands. After which a few speeches about students’ lives and Chinese student organizations are given by Shangwei Wu, current CSC PhD student at ESHCC and Zihang Wei, the President of Association of Chinese Students and Scholars in Netherland Rotterdam Branch who organizes events throughout the year. All the CSC PhD candidates are welcome to join.
The afternoon ended with lots of sunshine. Everyone enjoyed the social drinking and tasted delicious Dutch sweets.
