Erasmus Initiative Vital Cities and Citizens (VCC) has published a third policy brief within the Rotterdams Impactstudy COVID-19. This policy brief is a plea for innovative Rotterdam policy. The current crisis requires society to become more resilient.
A resilient society enables urban residents and businesses to cope with a crisis. In this policy brief Dr. Jan Fransen (theme leader within VCC) and Daniela Ochoa Peralta MSc give advice on which conditions, such as local knowledge and local networks, contribute to a resilient society. They also refer to Audrey Esteban's ongoing PhD research at ESSB and IHS. Esteban notices a gradual paradigm shift from top-down infrastructural solutions to community resilience in Rotterdam’s response to climate change. The policy brief builds on this paradigm shift.
