The Master programme Philosophy Now is moving to a new level with the designed specialisation Sustainability Transitions. This programme combines the analytical and ethical power of philosophy with design thinking and systems theory. Students get the chance to examine the UN Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable futures to chart a course to achieve them.
The programme will combine academic expertises from the fields of philosophy and transition and sustainability sciences to provide students an in-depth philosophical understanding of the complexity of sustainability transitions. At the same time, students will also be equipped with practical and methodological tools to practically engage with these transitions.
Great cooperation within EUR
Erasmus School of Philosophy has put its hands together with DRIFT, Design, Impact and Transitions Platform and Erasmus Initiative Dynamics of Inclusive Prosperity to provide an unique and transdisciplinary study programme for students from all disciplinary backgrounds.
Derk Loorbach, Professor of Socio-economic Transitions and director of DRIFT, is enthusiastic about the cooperation: “In this specialisation track we bring together inspired academics that challenge students to push the boundaries of scientific disciplines, knowledge and understanding. Can we rethink our society and economy by uncovering historical path-dependencies and unsustainable cultures, structures and practices? Can we reimagine and redesign just and sustainable futures? And how can we as individuals and collectives accept complexity by making meaningful and transformative changes at the local scale.”
Students from all academic backgrounds can sign up for this programme. EUR students can also follow courses separately.
