On 5 March 2018 Sarah Wilton will take up the position of Director of Operations at Erasmus School of Economics. As Director of Operations, Sarah Wilton will be responsible for developing and managing the implementation of strategic objectives in the fields of Finance, ICT, HRM, Management and Policy, and Facilities and Accommodation.
Wilton will succeed Margaretha Buurman, the former head of the Dean’s Office, who left for VU Amsterdam at the beginning of this year.
Philip Hans Franses, Dean of Erasmus School of Economics, is confident that Sarah Wilton will capably manage the implementation of the School’s policy objectives: ‘In the context of policy, a director of operations has to deal with numerous joint responsibilities, partners in the chain and/or stakeholders. With her open attitude, ability to cooperate and experience, Sarah Wilton is someone who can maintain and further develop the good relations within the school and university adequately.’
Sarah Wilton is looking forward to her new job: ‘I will start with a great deal of enthusiasm and ambition on 5 March, and I’m looking forward to meeting and working with many new colleagues, both in my own area of work and outside it. I deliberately opted for a different working environment and I’m really looking forward to the dynamics and challenges of the academic world.’
Sarah Wilton spent the last 10 years working in various management positions at ABN Amro Bank N.V. Recently, as head of the Energy, Commodities and Transportation (ECT) Clients Risk Management Department, she led a programme that focused on cultural renewal and designed an optimised business model for this department. She was also ultimately responsible for the management, monitoring and control of the credit risk and all other risk types of the bank’s risk taxonomy with respect to ECT clients. Prior to joining ABN Amro, Sarah worked at ING Bank for over seven years, likewise in the international clients segment. She holds a master degree in Business Management and Finance from Radboud University Nijmegen. She earned her Executive MBA degree from Rotterdam School of Management in 2007. Sarah is married, lives in Rotterdam and has two children.
