Protest against higher education cuts cancelled

Campus Woudestein.

It is incredibly unfortunate that the organisers of the demonstration against the cuts in higher education have made the decision to cancel the protest because the safety of the demonstrators cannot be guaranteed.

There are concrete signals that the demonstration could be hijacked by a pro-Palestinian organisation. With thousands of students and staff attending, we could have sent a strong signal to political The Hague about the negative impact of the budget cuts. In doing so, the government is sawing at the roots of our knowledge tree and thus at the sustainability of our prosperity.

Sign the petition!

Fortunately, we see a lot of reactions from staff and students in the news and on social media. The fact that the demonstration cannot go ahead does not mean that we cannot make our point. We therefore call on staff and students of EUR to sign the online petition. Stop the cuts in higher education!
