The Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) has decided to evacuate and close down the Polak Building on campus Woudestein immediately. This is due to cracks in the concrete floors of the building. What exactly caused the cracks is not yet clear.
Further investigation
As a precautionary measure, the Polak Building (education building) will remain closed until 26 September for further investigation. This investigation must show what measures are needed to put the building back into safe use. The closure applies to the entire building and therefore the shops, the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) and the studio of the Media Support Centre also have to close.
Educational activities
Educational activities in Polak Building scheduled for the period Tuesday, September 14 through Sunday, September 26 will be rebooked. Starting next week, the changes will be implemented. It is possible that (part of) the teaching activities will have to be done online.
Up-to-date information can be found by students in their schedule at https://timetables.eur.nl/schedule (Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences made an instructional video that shows how to view your schedule).
Further updates will follow on this page.
