The middle class is declining worldwide. As a result, many people are falling into the lowest income group. Nevertheless, the Netherlands knows how to escape this.
Prof. Dr. Godfried Engbersen (ESSB) tells BNR that it has become more complicated to realize a middle existence. Causes are the increased cost of living combined with increased job insecurity and decreasing renumeration of some jobs.
