The National Economics Olympiad will take place Friday, 5 March 2021. Talented students can show their excellence in the field of economics by solving questions from diverse branches of economics. This is a problem-solving competition for bachelor-3 and master students in Economics.
NEO is a problem-solving competition for Bachelor and Master students in Economics, organized by the study association AEclipse and the Royal Dutch Economic Association (KVS) in close collaboration with Erasmus School of Economics and the Dutch Journal on Policy Economics (ESB).
Professors from all around the Netherlands send in knowledge-intensive questions from their field of expertise. Academically-talented students work in teams of three on solving the questions, with the opportunity to show off their talent. The prestigious competition has participants from all over the Netherlands competing for the fame of the title ‘best economics students of the Netherlands' and a monetary prize of €300. Moreover, the best team will be invited for a special inhouse day at Group Economics at ABN Amro.

To offer students an opportunity to engage with a representative from the academic field of business, NEO will also include a subsequent Keynote Lecture held by Prof. Dr. Rick van der Ploeg, Economist and Professor at Oxford University on the topic of “Green Recovery after the Pandemic”.
