As of February 2016, the Center for Historical Culture at Erasmus University Rotterdam has founded with two other organisations the International Network Popular Uses of the Past (POPUP): the Institute for Public History (IPG) at Ghent University in Belgium and the Master programme History at the University of Cologne in Germany.
Over the past ten years, research into popular historical culture and public history has become a booming field in various departments of history and cultural studies all over the world. The three collaborating organisations are specialised in research and theoretical reflections on popular uses of the past (POPUP), including heritage and history education.
Aim of the POPUP-network is to intensify and stimulate research and education (staff and students) on an institutional level. Additional information about the POPUP-network can be found here.
