January 16: Freedom for Iran in LantarenVenster

Niloofer Azimian

On Monday, January 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. a program is organized about the situation in Iran, in LantarenVenster, Rotterdam. This evening we zoom in on how it is to live as a woman in Iran during these protests but also under the regime of Islamic Republic. Iranian women of different ages tell their personal stories, and help us understand how their fight was carried through generations which resulted in ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’. Supported by video letters of Iranian women in Iran, on the current situation. At the end of the program, the public gets the opportunity to ask questions. This program is developed by Niloofar Azimian.

After the brutal death of Mahsa Amini, Iranians have been fighting for almost three months in the streets of Iran and risking their lives. The Islamic Republic is trying to brutally suppress this call for freedom by killing people in the streets and executing prisoners. Still, protests in Iran are not slowing down, and it’s turning into a women’s revolution.
