Minister for Education, Culture and Science, Ingrid van Engelshoven, has appointed three new members to the Supervisory Board of Erasmus University Rotterdam. On 1 June 2020, prof. Jaap Winter, Laura van Geest and prof. Ellen Giebels will join the Supervisory Board as chair and members, respectively.
Prof. Jaap Winter
The current chair of the Supervisory Board, prof. Corien Prins will step down after eight years of service on 1 June 2020, as her term will then officially end. Prof. Jaap Winter will succeed her as chair. Winter is currently a partner at Consultancy Firm Phyleon, Leadership & Governance, professor of Corporate Law, Governance and Behaviour at VU University Amsterdam and professor of International Business Law at the University of Amsterdam. He formerly held the position of chair of the Executive Board of VU University Amsterdam.

Laura van Geest
The seat left vacant by Marja van Bijsterveldt after her board term will be filled by Laura van Geest. She is currently the chair of the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets and before that she was the director of the CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. She has also held various positions in the Ministry of Finance. Van Geest is an alumna of Erasmus University Rotterdam: she studied Economics and Public Administration here.
Prof. Ellen Giebels
The University Council (UC) of Erasmus University Rotterdam nominated prof. Ellen Giebels. Giebels is a professor of Social Psychology of Conflict and Security and vice-dean of the Faculty of Behavioural, Management, and Social Sciences of the University of Twente. Furthermore, she is a member of the Advisory Body for Security Groningen and a member of the Advisory Board of the Netherlands Board on Research Integrity (Landelijk Orgaan Wetenschappelijke Integriteit - LOWI in Dutch).

Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board supervises the governance and management of Erasmus University Rotterdam and is accountable to the minister of Education, Culture and Science. All appointments have a term of four years.
