Experts' meeting to discuss international responses to surrogacy

ISS Associate Professor, Kristen Cheney was part of an Expert Group which met at the University of Verona (Italy) to discuss the disparate national approaches to surrogacy and concerns relating to surrogacy arrangements.

The Experts' Group meeting was attended by 30 experts and observers from governments, academic institutions, civil society and international organizations.

The purpose of the meeting was to review a working document proposing 'Principles for better protection of children's rights in the context of surrogacy'. These principles would support inter-governmental and national efforts in providing a comprehensive international children's rights response to surrogacy.
