EUR pays tribute to Prof. Dianne Bevelander

Erasmus University Rotterdam is saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Dianne Bevelander. Prof. Bevelander was a professor of Management Education at RSM, serving as Associate Dean for MBA Programs.

Her research focused on diversity in business and the development and progression of women in professional life. She was a regular and sought after speaker on the topic and was an eager participant of several educational boards across the globe.

Nonetheless, Prof. Bevelander was committed to putting research into practice and thus was well suited in her position as the executive director of the Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations (ECWO). As head of ECWO, Prof. Bevelander led the drive for greater representation and empowerment for women in our community. Her drive to ensure that colleagues, students and friends around her could express their full potential shone through personally and professionally throughout her time.

Consequently, in recognition of her research and longstanding work in making the EUR community more inclusive, she was awarded the prestigious FAME Athena Award in 2019.

Chief Diversity Officer, Prof. Semiha Denktas has led the tributes to Prof. Bevelander, remarking that; 'we have lost a very special and beautiful person. She will be greatly missed, and we will cherish and pass on her legacy.'

ECWO, Diversity & Inclusion and the EUR as a whole is determined to continue her good work and the values she lived by and continue to build upon her vision of a community and environment that is more open, connected and above all, fairer. She'll be sorely missed by her colleagues, students and friends at EUR.

We wish her family all the best in this trying time.
