On 19 May, the study association In Duplo held its yearly In Discussio congress: "Europe from a distance: Outplayed as a world player?". President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen kicked off the evening by addressing the audience via a video message and the audience discussed the future of the European Union inside of the Arminius church in Rotterdam.
Fabian Amtenbrink, Professor of European Union Law at Erasmus School of Law, Rob de Wijk of Universiteit Leiden, Winand Quaedvlieg of VNO-NCW and parliament members Renske Leijten (SP) en Nilüfer Gündogan (Volt) were asked to share their views with the 200 (digital) attendees on various themes regarding the European future. They discussed the economic, military and political position of the European Union as a world player.
This congress fits perfectly within the multidisciplinary views of In Duplo and Erasmus School of Law. The congress was organised by one of the committees of In Duplo together with the Arminius, and with the support of the European Union, Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus School of Economics, Rotterdam School of Management and Erasmus School of Accounting & Assurance.
