Misiedjan has been a member of YA for some years and was appointed to the YA board at the end of 2024. Her tenure as Vice-Chair starts in April 2025.

What is the Young Academy?
The YA is an independent division of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. It organizes activities related to science policy, science and society, interdisciplinarity, internationalisation and the arts and sciences.
Its members received their PhD no more than ten years prior to their appointment and represent a range of disciplines. They have a proven track record in their field, and are eager to contribute to science and scholarship, and to the development of science policy.
The YA issues advice and articulates the positions of The Young Academy. It does so by representing young researchers in conversation with parties in charge of decision-making which affects young academics, for instance NWO or the Ministry of Education. Previously, YA shared its advice about structural threats to academic freedom and integrity and UNL’s directive on student protests at universities.
