China Trip (26-28 October 2016)

At the end of October 2016, Erasmus University China Center (EUCC) organized a China trip to Fudan University in Shanghai and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in Guangzhou. The trip aimed to sign and renew memorandum of understanding (MoU), to exchange views on various academic fields through seminars, and to discuss further collaborations with both universities.

Led by the Rector, the Erasmus University Rotterdam delegation had a total of 10 participants, among which, there were three deans and four professors, representing a total of five faculties/institutes.

On the day of arrival, 26 October 2016, the EUR delegation received a warm welcome by the Consul-General in Shanghai, Ms. Anneke Adema, along with representatives of EUR partner universities in Shanghai. During the meeting, the participants engaged in a presentation and rewarding discussions on "What type of trends and challenges do you see in the field of internationalization of higher education?" and "How can European / Dutch and Chinese universities develop better strategic cooperation?". Afterwards, there was a networking activity between the EUR delegates and partners in Shanghai.  

Fudan University visit (27 October 2016)

The Fudan University visit started with the signing (extension) of the MoU. The signing was witnessed by the Consul-General in Shanghai, Ms. Anneke Adema and Director of RCRO, Mr. Tony Huang. After the singing, on behalf of EUR, the Rector gave a special gift to Prof. Yonghao GUI which was a copy of the very first MoU signed between Fudan and EUR in 1988.        

Sun Yat-sen University visit (28 October 2016)

During this visit, a seminar and several lectures were held. The delegates visited individual faculties where they shared experiences in common topics that could benefit both parties. The day was concluded with a match making session.

Conclusion

This China trip was rewarding and created several starting points to further collaborate with these Chinese Universities.
