IDEA Center hosted the Campus TaalTrip (Language Tour) at Erasmus University Rotterdam, an initiative in collaboration with JINC that supports primary school children in expanding their (academic) vocabulary.
Children from Rotterdam primary school IBS Noen (grade 6) stepped out of their classrooms and onto Woudestein, for a tour on our campus (inside and outside). Through challenges they engaged with words and concepts crucial for the subjects they learn at school. Instead of just reading about words like ‘opinion’, ‘university’ and ‘society’, they experienced them in action - bringing language to life through real-world exploration.
A big thank you to our language guides Camille Blaaker, Jacqueline Onyenze, Maylinn Djumić, and Timothy Toto who served as role models and guided the children through this immersive learning experience. By making complex vocabulary more accessible, we help build a stronger foundation for academic success and equal opportunities in education.
This initiative is part of the commitment of IDEA Center to outreach and fostering equity in access to higher education. Because language is not just about words - it’s about opening doors.
