Transformative research and its methods are multiple and diverse. They have the potential to broaden perspectives and challenge established assumptions. They can prioritize the voices of marginalized groups, promoting inclusivity and social justice. These methods stimulate creativity, leading to innovative solutions and novel ideas. They engage participants actively, fostering a sense of ownership, and are crucial for effective problem-solving, especially in addressing complex global challenges.

Design Impact Transition Platform (DIT) hopes this blog series on transformative research methods can be highly beneficial to those interested in learning more about transformative research- and how it is done in practice. By looking at real-life examples of research using transformative methods we aim to illuminate the significance of these methods in a comprehensive and accessible manner. These blogs will highlight real-world examples, the challenges and successes of different transformative research methods, highlighting the tangible impact of transformative research. Through this, individuals and organizations can not only learn but also be inspired to incorporate these methods into their work, fostering a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and effective problem-solving.

Transformative research methods explored will include:

  1. Design Ethnography,
