The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra plays Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto alongside music by Prokofiev, Ravel and Hindemith.
Rachmaninoff composed his ‘Third Piano Concerto’ in 1909, shortly before the outbreak of war in Europe, and in music. End of an Era: Even in the music of Prokofiev (Overture War & Peace), Ravel’s ‘La Valse’ and in Hindemith’s ‘Mathis der Maler’, you can hear that the world would never be the same again.
