The Stoic philosophy is popular. She is used in therapies, in self -help and in coaching. In book stores, contemporary and ancient stoics are the shelves. And she only seems to be getting more popular. In this dissertation, the Stoic popularity is further investigated. What does the Stoic philosophy find resonance in the present time?
This question leads to a search for the chilling and crossing between contemporary and classical stoicism. Which elements of that old philosophy now take over and which are ignored, skipped from changed? And what does that say about contemporary Stoic philosophy?
The purpose of the comparison is not to see what "real" stoicism is and what is not. The aim is to interpret contemporary stoicism in a philosophical context. Today's stoic will be challenged to think about her own position and relate to its classic predecessors.

The public defense will begin exactly at 10.30 hrs. The doors will be closed once the public defense starts, latecomers may be able to watch on the screen outside. There is no possibility of entrance during the first part of the ceremony. Due to the solemn nature of the ceremony, we recommend that you do not take children under the age of 6 to the first part of the ceremony.
