Below is a brief summary of the dissertation
This dissertation examines how public and private parties collaborate in the regulation and supervision of medical research. The research focuses on challenges such as complying with European regulations, the shift of research activities to teaching hospitals, and the increasing complexity of research.
The involved parties continuously strive to balance the protection of research participants with maintaining scientific quality. The dissertation highlights that, despite (inter)national agreements and regulations, achieving both goals remains challenging.
One of the key recommendations from this dissertation is to develop a system that combines regulations with agreements on responsibilities and provides sufficient (experimental) flexibility. Such an approach could contribute to better protection of research participants as well as the integrity of scientific research.
