Summary:
Appendicitis is a common cause of acute abdominal pain. The first-line treatment in many centers is appendectomy but conservative treatment with antibiotics is gaining popularity (1-9). More research on diagnosis and treatment of appendicitis is important as there is still no consensus on some aspects of (non-)operative treatment and postoperative care for patients. This thesis aims to give insight in the assessment of the severity of appendicitis, prediction of postoperative complications and use of postoperative antibiotics
