Sports Building is open for you! During the opening event for students, employees and invited guests, we will organize a "sports experience", followed by an official program in which we will reflect on the importance of good sports facilities for the health and well-being of students and employees.

Experience run - Get ready for a challenge!
We will bid farewell to the old Sports Building in style, with an athletic 'Experience Run'. If you want - and dare - to, you can participate in an obstacle course which leads from the old sports building, across the campus, to the new Sports Building. Each participant will receive a tasty snack at the finish.
Fun run
Between 11:00 and 13:00h and between 14:00 and 15:00h, anyone can register to run and climb across the course for fun. Are you up to the challenge? Sign up for the Experience Run here!
Competition
Between 13:00 and 14:00 we challenge the clubs of Erasmus Sport to compete for charity and honor! The winner will receive a check of € 250 to spend on a charity of their choice.
Official Program
Between 14:00 and 15:00, our host Bart Vriends will speak with Ellen van Schoten, Antoinette Laan, Marieke Keijser, Rebekka Kadijk and Michiel Snijders about sport, student wellbeing and health. This conversation will be followed by the official opening ceremony, after which there will be time to have a drink and a bite to eat while admiring the building.
Bart Vriends
Bart Vriends is a professional football player at Sparta Rotterdam. He studied communication sciences and in 2020 he earned his master's degree in Media & Journalism at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Bart participated in "De Slimste Mens" and knowledge quiz "The Connection" and makes the weekly podcast "De Cor Potcast".
Ellen van Schoten
Ellen van Schoten is vice-chairwoman of the Executive Board (CvB) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is responsible for the portfolio Professional Services and Operations - Finance - Human Resources - Real Estate & Facilities - Information Technology - Sustainability.
Antoinette Laan-Geselschap
Antoinette Laan is alderman in Schiedam on behalf of the VVD since April 2021. Before that she was a member of the Dutch Parliament and alderman for sport, culture and recreation in Rotterdam. Since 2015, she is active as chair of the Board of Directors of the Erasmus Sport Foundation.
Rebekka Kadijk
Rebekka used to be a professional beach volleyball player. With different partners, she became Dutch champion in beach volleyball nine times. She also competed at the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008. Rebekka is responsible for Erasmus Sport's Top Sports Program. She is also the coordinator of Erasmus Sport's 26 student sports associations.
Michiel Snijders
Michiel is Head Coach of the Rotterdam Student Rugby Club, National Coach of the Dutch Student Team and Coach at Rugby Academy Zuid West. Michiel breathes rugby and easily makes the connection between exercise and studying.
Marieke Keijser
Professional athlete Marieke Keijser is a Dutch rower. She won gold in the light skiff at the 2018 European Championships and silver at the 2019 World Rowing Championships. In 2021, she won bronze at the Olympics. Marieke Keijser is currently active at A.R.S.R. Skadi and focusing on her studies in Health Policy Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

During the opening of the Sports Building, photos and video recordings will be made. It is possible that you are recognizable in these pictures and videos. As a visitor you give permission for the storage and use of these images for commercial purposes.
