Dr Samira van Bohemen, head of the Erasmus Love Lab will give a short introduction to the film How to Have Sex, Molly Manning Walker's first feature film. Then we will talk to a panel of Erasmus Love Lab experts led by Lotte Mikkers about: What is good sex? How do young people think about it? Is a Hot Girl Summer a good time for sexual experimentation and for discovering your (sexual) identity? Or does it also put pressure on young people to cross their boundaries?

The panel will consist of:
Dr Samira van Bohemen, associate professor of cultural sociology at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) and head of the Erasmus Love Lab. Her research mainly deals with the social organization of sexual desire and sexual action.

Dr Linda Dekker, assistant professor of clinical psychology (ESSB). Her research mainly focuses on psychosexual functioning and individuals with autism spectrum disorder.

Mirthe Verbeek, researcher (ESSB) with expertise on improving psychosexual health amongst young men and preventing experiences of sexual and dating violence.

The panel will be moderated by Lotte Mikkers, researcher with expertise around the sexual development and sexual health of youth.

About How to Have Sex:
School is over and three sixteen-year-old best friends head off to Crete for a week of sun, partying and (hopefully) hooking up, before their lives diverge. Em has been accepted into university and with her smarts has a sure future. Tara and Skye are less certain of theirs but are intent on making the most of their time in this sun-soaked Greek paradise. Unlike her friends Tara is still a virgin and feels the pressure to lose her virginity at the first given opportunity. This compulsion comes up against questions of consent, a tension richly explored, without moralizing it.
