With the new AI tool DeepSeek taking the world by storm, what are the academic implications of this model, especially considering its very high level of performance?
João Gonçalves will address the most burning questions around DeepSeek (beyond its accessibility, price, combined features comparing to other commercial large language models):
- Technical innovation behind it – as the foundation for scaling LLM
- Political dimension – guardrails, censorship, privacy/safety concerns
- Geopolitical dimension – resources needed to run it
In an attempt to demystify this new actor on the global GenAI scene, after João’s presentation we will dive into a collective discussion about its impact on higher education.
