Discover NEXT: the adventurous pop-up project of Conny Janssen Danst. In the 2nd edition, this year it is creator Dalton Jansen's challenge together with seven dancers to bring urban energy to unique locations. March 18 the EUR campus is their stage.
Meet a new generation of dance makers in Conny Janssen Danst's project NEXT. This year it is the turn of Rotterdam's Dalton Janssen, who connects hip-hop with contemporary dance.
NEXT has been Conny Janssen Danst's newest and perhaps most adventurous project since 2024. The new initiative offers an annual opportunity to a talented choreographer to create a compact production with the company's dancers. NEXT is a performance with urban energy that pops up in unexpected, diverse locations. After a successful collaboration in 2024, Conny Janssen Danst is happy to return to the EUR campus in 2025. With seven dancers, the company will perform the brand-new choreography ‘Bite the Bullet’ by Dalton Jansen.
The ambitious young choreographer and enterprising creator has already won several awards with his inspired way of working. Dalton's choreographies are at the intersection of hip-hop and contemporary and always highlight current social themes.
After the performance, we will talk to a few dancers about making a show, but also about the daily life of a dancer. The chance to finally ask how many hours a day they rehearse, whether you must eat before or after the performance and how, as a choreographer, you make the dancers move exactly as you envision.
