The current crisis is laying bare the extreme injustices and inequalities of the economic system. There seems to be a battle of visions on how we’re going to respond to this. Will we either be catapulted to an even more brutal winner-takes-all system — or will this be a wake-up call?
In times of crisis, seemingly impossible ideas become possible. Think about the 1930s when the Great Depression led to the New Deal when governments began to weave a social safety net, leading to more social security. What will this crisis bring us? What are the possibilities? And are we able to grab those chances?
