At Erasmus University Rotterdam, we believe in the importance of inclusive prosperity, the global quality of life of people here and now and for generations to come. We believe it is important to give new meaning to our understanding of social welfare, looking beyond economic growth.

What to expect

During this conference, deepen your knowledge of inclusive prosperity and share ideas with experts and colleagues during thematic workshops on inclusive parks, healthcare, sustainable energy transitions and reciprocity in the economy. Together with partners, we will make the concept of inclusive prosperity more meaningful and develop a social and political agenda. We are working towards a society in which everyone can participate and benefit.

Sander Schimmelpenninck

Words by Sander Schimmelpenninck and Alessio Terzi

Several experts will be speaking at this event. Two of them we are already happy to share with you. Journalist, opinion maker and presenter Sander Schimmelpenninck will lead us through the day. In his recently published book Sander en de Brug, he presents five proposals to work towards a fairer Netherlands.

Alessio Terzi

The keynote speaker of this conference is Alessio Terzi, a leading economist at the European Commission and author of Growth for Good. In his book, he asks a crucial question: should we shrink our economy to save the environment? And would that help us escape an obsession with material wealth that benefits only a few?

Why this conference?

Our aim is to foster collaboration between public, civil society and private organisations to address the challenges around inclusive well-being. We do this with our expertise in social economy, inclusiveness, equal opportunities and justice and with our strong ties to Rotterdam and the province of South Holland, and partners such as Delft University of Technology, Erasmus MC and various stakeholders.
