Alumna Governance of Migration and Diversity

When I received the information about the GMD at Erasmus University Rotterdam, I knew without a doubt that I had found the Master's I wanted to do. I had always wanted to go back and resume my studies, especially to do a Master's abroad, but I had not found one that really encouraged me that much to put my previous professional life on hold. The work experience motivated me to continue in the field of public administration. Still, the topic of immigration has always interested me since I did my bachelor's degree in El Salvador.

In my country, the migration phenomenon is a daily reality, making me want to do more research on this topic to know how to address this reality and participate with knowledge. The GMD Master has given me this knowledge in different aspects. From different angles and holistically to, address a phenomenon that is not new but plays a crucial role in today's society.

The GMD tackles the complexity of the topic of migration and diversity from different angles, allowing knowledge to be generated in a comprehensive and understandable way. This opportunity to look at an area of study from a multidisciplinary approach was one of the main features I noticed when I applied for the Master's degree. It was also a challenge that led to continuous learning and a lot of context reflection. The opportunity to take courses in different cities and universities makes the Master's unique and expands the network. Taking classes together with like-minded people from different backgrounds allows for a knowledge-rich environment and leads to a greater exchange of ideas.
