In the SYNC lab we believe it is important to share the knowledge we gain during our research projects with others. Our knowledge can be useful to young people, parents or professionals such as teachers.
We share our knowledge in a multitude of ways.
Lectures/workshops
We regularly provide lectures and workshops to youth, parents, teachers, professionals, and those who are interested on themes such as:
– Prosocial Behavior
– Self-concept and study choice
– Brain Development
- Wellbeing of young people during the Covid-19 pandemic
Learn more or request a lecture here.
During her lecture for the 'Universiteit van Nederland' Eveline Crone talks about the brain of adolescents.
Informative websites
On the (Dutch) website www.kijkinjebrein.nl, youth can learn more about their brain in relation to several topics, such as social media, friendships, and emotions.
On the (Dutch) website www.juniorhersenen.nl, youth who are interested in participating in research can sign up to take part.
On the (Dutch) website www.youngxperts.nl youth can find information about their development and opportunities to take action for a better future during the corona crisis.
School/course materials
We recently launched course material specifically developed for students between the ages of 10 and 16. Subjects of the course material include friendship, self-concept, and risk-taking behaviour.
The course material is freely available here.
For policy makers and youth workers we have made an e-magazine (in Dutch) in which the results of our research on the well-being of young people during the corona crisis are described and summarised in an accessible way. You can also read a summary of the e-magazine (in Dutch).
Books
– In 2018, the second edition of Eveline Crone’s book “Het puberendebrein” (the pubertal brain) was published.
– In 2019, several SYNC researchers contributed to the (Dutch) information booklet “Brein in de Groei”. This booklet contains up to date scientific information on brain development and behaviour during adolescence.
Blogs
As we aim to communicate our scientific knowledge to the general public, we publish a blog every two weeks. Topics include our own and other lab’s research topics and practical matters involved in conducting research.
You can find all blogs here.
In the media
We regularly appear in the media to report our findings to a wider public. It also allows us to participate in public debates as we share our expertise while gaining insight into new information within different domains of society.
You can find the most recent news and media appearances here.
