Biography
Marise Ph. Born is Full Professor of Personnel Psychology at the Institute of Psychology of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
She is Endowed Professor of Industrial and Personnel Psychology at VU University Amsterdam and Extraordinary Professor at Optentia, North-West University, South Africa.
Her research interests are in the domains of personnel selection, cross-cultural psychology, test development and assessment for work-related purposes, and personality and individual differences. For many years, she was active as council member of the International Test Commission, of which she was President from 2008-2010. Between 2009 and 2015 she was Chair of the Institute of Psychology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2006, she co-founded the Dutch-Flemish Network for Recruitment and Selection Research, together with Professor Rob Meijer of Groningen University. She was member of the task force of ISO 10667 (Part 1 and Part 2), a world-wide ISO Standard on assessment of people for work-related purposes, which was launched in 2010. She is a former member of the board of the Dutch Network of Female Professors (LNVH) and from September 2015 to March 2020 she was Chair of the Dutch Foundation of Psychotechnics (NSvP). Presently, she is Chair of the Board of Foundation NOA. Professor Born is advising and has advised over 20 PhD candidates.
Her Fields of interest are: Personnel Selection and Assessment, Personality, Situational Judgment Testing, Test Development and Individual Differences, and Cross-Cultural Research.
Her on-going research includes: Psychometric properties of situational judgment tests, dark and bright personality, differential effects of selection and recruitment on applicant subgroups, psychological assessment of refugees, the social relations model in work contexts, and research on expatriates and third culture kids (research alone or in collaboration).
