As of 2024, the new ESSB Strategy, 'Joining Forces', aims to integrate ‘sustainability’ in ESSB’s research, education, partnerships, and operations. During this session, we will discuss how we can position ESSB as an attractive and inclusive research space that contributes crucial social and behavioural science perspectives to the sustainability of polycrisis. An inclusive research agenda relies not only on fundamental research but also on action research, and research in relation to education, to name a few examples.
2 sessions – Agni Kalfagianni & Ana Vasques (Sustainability Officers ESSB)
To kick-off the discussion, we will first showcase illustrations of innovative sustainability research that is currently taking place in ESSB. We will then collectively start developing a cutting-edge and societally relevant research agenda for the future. For that purpose, we invite all participants in this session to: (a) bring examples of how their own research/project/education builds bridges to sustainability; and (b) consider the key questions and issue areas an ESSB Sustainability Research Agenda should focus on.
