As the PERCEPTIONS research project comes to a close, it boasts an series of outcomes useful for teaching and organising academic events related to the topic of migration. These outcomes include the PERCEPTIONS handbook, the R.E.D Carpet installation, the film DYSTOPIA, and the many policy briefs produced by the research team. The handbook was edited by dr. Fiona-Katharina Seiger.
The PERCEPTIONS handbook provides information and tools to different stakeholders within the field of migration and is based on the findings of the PERCEPTIONS project. It is a practical and accessible resource for all those who want to better understand some of the challenges of migration to Europe and to design evidence-based responses to address these challenges.
The handbook is structured into three chapters covering:
- key insights and responses to common questions about the role of perceptions and narratives in decisions to migrate to Europe;
- examples of best practices and creative tools that can be employe to tackle some of these challenges at the local level;
- a review of immigration policies and recommendations for improvement as provided by different stakeholders involved in the project.
The book encourages readers to effect change by informing themselves, engaging local communities and stakeholders, and finally, creating impact by addressing policy and legislation.
