According to Kjell Noordzij, issues such as the benefits affair, the crisis on the housing market, the decentralisation of youth care and other social issues are things that many VVD voters regard as remote. A benefits affair (toeslagenaffaire) of this kind does not affect a large proportion of VVD voters.
