In Memory of Gabriella de Haas

Gabriella was student in the Management of International Social Challenges (MISOC) bachelorprogramme. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and ability to bring people together. 

Members of our faculty’s study association Cedo Nulli remember her as a very committed and enthusiastic trainer during their training as member of the universities delegation in the Model United Nations (NMUN)

Her impact reached far beyond the classroom—she touched the lives of many, transcending borders, backgrounds, and beliefs. Her funeral service took place on 25 January at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Paris, where people from all walks of her life gathered to pay their respects. From the homeless, immigrants, and refugees to friends and family who traveled from different countries, the outpouring of love was a testament to the depth of her compassion and the connections she built.

A moving tribute from the Dominica Olympic Team, along with a carefully chosen song, encapsulates the profound loss felt by those who knew her.

To honor Gabriella’s memory, a memorial gathering will be organized within our university community in coordination with her family. Those who wish to contribute or attend are encouraged to reach out to Michal Onderco, the MISOC Programme Director (onderco@essb.eur.nl).

Her presence will be greatly missed, but the kindness and light she shared will remain with us.
