EUNPDC Winter/Spring 2021 Internship on EU and Global Nuclear Governance

Erasmus University Rotterdam is looking for a research intern in Winter/Spring 2021 (3 months) to work on the role of EU in global nuclear governance. The position is located in Rotterdam, at EUR’s Woudestein Campus

Erasmus University Rotterdam’s Department of Public Administration and Sociology is a world-leading research institution in public policy and public administration. This research focuses on several themes, from broad theoretical and methodological angles. The department places great attention on the societal relevance of the research undertaken within the department. Research foci include global and European governance, as well as international security. The research addresses also major themes of nuclear politics, including the NPT and its review process, and the nuclear disarmament.

EUR is a member of the EU Nonproliferation and Disarmament Consortium, a consortium of leading think-tanks and academic institutions studying nonproliferation and disarmament. The duration of the internship is 3 months (13 weeks) and should be completed at latest by May 2021.

What do we offer?

  • First three weeks of the internship will be organized around a specific curriculum covering the basics of arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament
  • Ten weeks of a supervised research internship aimed at producing a research paper of publishable quality
  • Participation in the academic life of a leading public policy department in Europe
  • Your own working space, access to the library as well as electronic resources
  • Limited subsidy of 500 € per month, and an additional subsidy of 300 € to cover the costs of travel from your home country to Rotterdam

Who are you?

  • You are a junior diplomat, Master student, PhD student, post-doc or journalist from EU Member States, EU institutions or from specific partner countries of the EU with a strong interest in arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament
  • You have a University Bachelor degree (as a minimum)
  • Ideally, you are presently not based in the Netherlands (in line with the mobility criteria)
