'Graduation' basically means that you have completed all parts of an academic programme and, as proof of this, you are awarded the corresponding diploma. For almost all programmes* at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), graduation consists of the same three steps.
- Graduation requirements per programme
- Graduation procedures per programme
- Terminating enrolment for a programme
Make sure you actually meet all of your programme’s graduation requirements. You can do so by completing the following steps in OSIRIS Student.
Log in to OSIRIS Student, and:
- In the “Personal details” tab, check that all your personal details are correct; EUR will record these details in official documentation, such as your diploma.
- Generate the overview of your study progress and make sure you have completed all the required components according to our records. To check, open the “Progress” tab by selecting 'Preview on screen' or 'Download file' in the OSIRIS Student menu, shown on the “Study progress overview” tab.
- Please note: you can find all regulations relating to the mandatory components of your academic programme by consulting your study programme's Course and Examination Regulations (OER).
If you find any results missing in your study progress overview your need to get in touch with your degree programme’s Exam Administration. If one or more of your personal details are incorrectly recorded in Osiris Student, you need to get in touch with Studielink
Before you can graduate, the above-mentioned must first be resolved. Proceed to Step 2 if you have not encountered any errors or irregularities in your personal data or study progress overview.
Once you have established that you have met all of your programme’s graduation requirements (see Step 1), it is time to get started with your programme’s actual graduation procedure.
Submit a request for deregistration in Studielink for graduation.
There are two types of graduation procedure at EUR: active conferral and passive conferral.
Briefly put, this means that EUR uses the information stored in OSIRIS and periodically checks to see which students have met all of the graduation requirements for their programme. This information is then shared with those students. The graduation process is then automatically set in motion for those students, unless a valid reason is brought up to not do so. The intention is that, eventually, all programmes at EUR will use this type of conferral.
If your programme uses active conferral, you will never have to consult this web page, since you will be automatically notified that you have graduated and the graduation process is started automatically. Even so, if you have questions about your graduation contact the ESSC.
This type of conferral implies that students themselves should keep an eye on whether they have met all of the graduation requirements for their programme. Once all requirements have been met, students themselves then activate their programme’s Student Administration to initiate the final procedure.
Please complete the following steps:
- Log in to OSIRIS Student.
- Go to the ‘Cases’ tab and click through to the ‘My cases’ section.
- Click on ‘Start Case’ and select the application form for the faculty where you want to register for graduation.
After completing all the questions, click ‘Submit’. You can monitor the progress of your application in the ‘My cases’ section. If your submitted application is complete, the Study Progress & Diploma Administration (SV&D) Team will change the status of your application to ‘approved application’ and will start with creating your diploma documents.
If your application is not yet complete, it will be rejected by the SV&D Team. They will send you a message outlining what you still need to do in order to re-submit your application.

If you have chosen to collect your diploma in person, you will be emailed a link that you can use to schedule an appointment with ESSC to collect your diploma. Don’t forget to bring along a valid piece of identification.
If you have indicated that you wish to take part in a graduation ceremony (plenary or otherwise) or defence, the faculty will notify you in due time via email of the date and time.
Please note: the dates of the graduation ceremonies (plenary or otherwise) are set in the events calendar of the faculty in question. If you have any questions about this, we recommend getting in touch with the Studiepunt/Educational Office/Onderwijsbureau.
