Registration

You must be fully enrolled to start your studies. You can check the status of your application via Osiris by logging in with your ERNA details (you should've received these by email immediately after registration). Has the status in Studielink changed to ‘registered’? Congratulations, you have gone through all the steps of the applications process!

Not fully registered yet?

For a full enrolment, you must complete a number of steps as quickly as possible (at the latest before the start of the academic year). View the checklist for a complete overview of the steps you need to follow to complete your registration.

Important information

In this block, you can find all the practical information you need after your registration is complete, such as information about your timetable, your ERNA account, etc.

The first introduction lecture is the week before the start of the academic year, i.e. the week of 26 August.

The official start of the academic year is September 2nd, 2024. Education starts in this week as well.

Introduction lectures:

Within two weeks after the status of your enrolment in Studielink has changed to "enrolled", you will receive a digital student card and you can download a proof of enrolment.

The academic year generally starts at the beginning of September and ends at the end of August of the following year. The academic year is divided into periods. For an overview, including education-free periods, see the Academic Year Calendar ESSB.

Here you can find the curriculum for each of the international bachelors:

Via the EUR Course Guide you can find information about the courses in your study programme, e.g. the purpose and content of them.

Regarding your schedule, there is a difference between the general timetable and a personal timetable.

  1. The general timetable is the same for everyone in your study year. For the academic year 2024-2025 the general timetable for your study programme is known and you can see in the tab below how to find out which days you have to follow classes and which days you do not have any classes.

  2. In addition to that, you must add some courses to your timetable yourself (which is the personal timetable). To add those courses to your schedule, read this manual carefully. More information can be found in the tab below.

For many subjects you will be divided into education or practical groups. As soon as the group formats are known, you will receive a separate message about this via the box in Canvas. Once the classification has been made, you can look up your group in the timetable (also via timetables.eur.nl) and you will know when you have lessons.

To find out where to go for lectures that take place on campus, check the campus map.

To view the general timetable, you can do two things:

  1. Follow the instructions in the video below explaining how to view your Year 1 general timetable.

  2. Or go through the step-by-step instructions below:
  • Go to: timetables.eur.nl->
  • Click on +add timetable ->
  • 2024/2025 ->
  • Programme of study ->
  • Filter on department: Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences ->
  • Search for your programme (e.g. ESSB Bachelor PSY/ Bachelor 1 PSY) and select- >
  • Click on Add.

How to add and view your timetable - ESSB

All compulsory literature can be found in the course description via courses.eur.nl or in the course in Canvas. During courses, most literature is available digitally or in the University Library (UB). Make sure you are in possession of compulsory literature before the course starts.

For International Bachelor in Psychology students, study specific books are available on the fourth floor of the Polak building.

The hub of Erasmus University Rotterdam is Campus Woudestein, which is a 15-minute bike ride or 20-minute tram ride away from the city centre. During your studies at ESSB, you will mainly be studying on campus.

Erasmus University offers a variety of activities that will help you settle in as a new international student in Rotterdam with a jump start!

Examples of these activities are:

  • Airport Service
  • Dutch courses
  • Bicycle lessons
  • Ikea Service
  • Etc.

Student housing in the Netherlands is not arranged for you by the university. This is your own responsibility.

However, there are reserved spots for about 25% of the yearly incoming international students at Erasmus University Rotterdam. To help you get started, there is a webinar organised on the Rotterdam housing market that you can review online; you can click through the reserved housing options and other accommodation providers.

We strongly advise you to start looking for accommodation as soon as possible to avoid stress and disappointment.

During your time as a student in the Netherlands, you may find yourself in the situation where you need medical care or professional support. In the Netherlands a General Practitioner (GP) will be your first point of call in case of any (not life-threatening) health issue you may encounter, we strongly recommend you to register with a GP as soon as possible after your arrival in the Netherlands.

For nominal education you are enrolled by the Educational Office. Only if you want to retake a course from a previous year, or do it later, you have to register for it yourself. You will be informed separately about this in due course.

Please note! For resits you always have to register yourself.

The courses you are going to take are published and visible in Canvas at the latest on the Wednesday before the start of the course.

On MyEUR ESSB (login with ERNA id required) you will find all the information you need if you are fully enrolled as a student and are about to start your studies.

For example, the following information can be found on MyEUR ESSB :

  • BSA (binding study advice)
  • Compensation scheme
  • Resits
  • Register for exams
  • Rules and Regulations
  • Etc.

Erasmus University is happy to help you develop your talents. If you have a disability, it can be an obstacle to you as a student during your studies. To support you in this, EUR therefore offers extra facilities in areas such as testing and education. Make your situation known to the student advisor of your study programme as soon as possible (Click here to read more about student advisors), so that the student advisor can respond as well as possible to your situation. You can think of extra examination time and taking the exams on a computer.

Are you coming to study with us next year, and could you use extra help with upcoming social, practical and academic challenges that may arise? Then sign up for the CONNECT mentor programme!

The CONNECT mentor programme is an extra programme outside the curriculum (regular education) and runs from September until the Christmas break. The programme is truly meant for students who can use just a little extra help with the transition to university and student life.

How does it work?

New students (mentees) are linked to two mentors (ESSB second-year/third-year or master students) in small groups. These mentors are available for all your questions. They have already experienced their first year(s) at university and are therefore perfectly able to share their experiences, tips and tricks with you. And they are very happy to do so!

In addition, CONNECT organizes several events in which you can participate.

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Rotterdam is the international student organisation of Erasmus University. They aim to create a home for all international students in Rotterdam and therefore offer over 150 different events throughout the year. Check out their webpage to find out more.

Cedo Nulli is the study association of Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (ESSB) of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and therefore the student platform of your faculty. They are here to help you get the most out of your time as a student at EUR.

During the year, they organise activities focused on career, study and recreation. They have a career week, in-house days, study groups and trainings. They also organise sport activities, parties, travel, and other recreational activities.

As a Cedo Nulli member, you can meet new people and find friends, receive help with your studies and your career opportunities, and get the best experience as a student at the ESSB!
