Annalisa Costella wins the Pierre Bayle Trophy 2020

The Erasmus Student Journal of Philosophy (ESJP) is proud to announce that the Pierre Bayle Trophy 2020 goes to Annalisa Costella! The winning piece, "Behavioural Economics: A Shaky Ground for Nudges", was published in the 17th issue of the ESJP.

After hours of heated discussions over Zoom (#thenewnormal), the Jury unanimously decided to award the prize to Annalisa for her interdisciplinary take on a question of high social relevance: do the findings of behavioural economics provide sufficient theoretical support for nudges? Her analysis was praised for its "accessibility of presentation, focus of argument, and innovative content".

This is not Annalisa's first piece published by the ESJP. Issue 16 opened with her paper "Freedom of Research in Economics: A Goal to Strive For?". In the history of the ESJP, only one other student (Thijs Heijmeskamp) has accomplished the amazing feat of having two papers published ánd win the Pierre Bayle Trophy.

Annalisa is currently a PhD student at the Erasmus School of Philosophy (ESPhil) working on her project "How to deal with change: The challenge to decisions and freedom". She graduated from the Research Master in Philosophy and Economics at ESPhil in 2019.
