The scholarship (max 17.500 euro) is open to individuals from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts applying to a Master’s degree programme. After the completion of the master programme the awardee commit to return to their home country to use their new skills and contribute to their countries' social and economic development. Scholarship amount: € 17.500 consisting of living allowances, personal allowance and IND leges. This amount includes an additional tuition fee waiver if applicable.
Requirements
- Your nationality is one of the list of the Developing Countries of the World Bank.
- You are an excellent student according to the faculty’s standard. The average grade should be the equivalent to the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale of 1 to 10.
- You have recent relevant work experience after earning a Bachelor’s degree.
- You are applying for a full-time master at ESPhil.
Scholarship awarding
- The Dean of ESPhil will decide on nominations for the scholarships.
- A scholarship can only be granted if an applicant starts with the ESPhil programme (s)he applied for.
Payment
EUR pays a monthly living allowance (12 x € 1.200), a one-time personal allowance (€ 271), IND leges (€ 228) and an additional tuition fee waiver if applicable (€ 2.601).

Application procedure
Start the letter by giving the following information:
- Subject: “Application for L-EARN for Impact Scholarship”.
- Full name and student number.
- Name of the ESPhil master programme for which you applied.
Subsequently, answer the following two questions:
- Why would you need an L-EARN for Impact Scholarship?
- Why would you deserve an L-EARN for Impact Scholarship? Include a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits.
The resume consists of an overview of your education background, extracurricular activities and/or working experience.
Fill out the budget form.
- First name (as in passport).
- Last name.
- Student number.
- Name of the master programme at ESPhil for which you applied.
- GPA of your previous education. Please also mention the minimum and maximum number of points in the pertaining grade scale. (For example: GPA 8, on a scale of 1 - 10.)
