The 2023/2024 academic year is a special year for Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). Because this year, the university is celebrating its 110th anniversary! To mark this occasion, there will be walks through the city, professors in their gowns will be teaching classes at primary schools, and a special edition of the EURvision Song Festival is planned. It’s going to be a festive year!
The official start of our university’s 110th anniversary is the Opening of the Academic Year. We celebrated this on Monday, 4 September 2023 in the Laurenskerk in the city centre. This kicked off a year in which we will learn, explore and celebrate together. The Dies Natalis, on 8 November, is the actual date of our birthday.
Alumni are an integral part of our university. Without them, we would not be here. We therefore want to include them in our anniversary celebrations too. Alumni are very welcome to join in the various activities being organised. Here is a taster of the activities planned for this academic year:

Brain Awareness Week is a public information activity involving various activities in the city of Rotterdam. For one week in the spring of 2024, all of Rotterdam will turn Erasmus green for the Lifelong Learning Festival. Rotterdammers young and old, with and without education, from above and below the river get acquainted with Erasmus University Rotterdam in a low-threshold way and discover that learning is fun!Heartbeat Festival 2024 - Thursday, 13 June 2024, 16.00 - 22.00
The Heartbeat Festival is all about fun, vitality, meeting friends, sustainability, colourfulness, enterprise, inclusion, parties and connecting students, staff, alumni and families!
