On Friday June 21, four former board members of Transito, the Study Association for Urban, Port, and Transport Economics, returned to their alma mater, Erasmus University. They were warmly welcomed by Charles Hermans, Director of Alumni Affairs and Development at the Erasmus School of Economics.
The alumni were treated to a tour filled with historical facts about Campus Woudestein and insights into the intriguing art on its premises, including the artwork on Tinbergen by renowned Dutch painter Karel Appel, which is currently undergoing renovation. You can read more about this project here. The tour also highlighted the significant changes that have taken place since these alumni graduated. As they reflected:
"As Erasmus School of Economics alumni, we recently had the opportunity to revisit the campus after twenty years. Thanks to the guided tour led by Charles Hermans, we were able to relive old memories and learn fascinating new facts about the history of Erasmus University. It was amazing to see the new developments that have taken place since our time as students, including the impressive facilities such as the Erasmus Sport Centre, the Paviljoen, and Café in de Smitse. Another notable change is the presence of students living on campus. This not only increases the sense of student community but also provides a conducive environment for learning and personal growth. We were also pleased to observe the implementation of car-free zones on campus, which clearly demonstrates the University's commitment to sustainability and enhances safety and convenience for everyone. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Erasmus University holds a special place in our hearts, and we are grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with our alma mater. "
Following the tour, the alumni made a generous donation to the Erasmus School of Economics fund of Erasmus Trust Fund. If you are interested in donating or also taking a trip down memory lane, please do not hesitate to contact the Alumni Office. Contact details can be found here.
