On Wednesday 2 December 2020, the Alumni Relations Office of Erasmus School of Economics organised its first livestreamed event in cooperation with study associations FSR and AEclipse. The School had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Onno Ruding, former Minister of Finance of the Netherlands, former Vice Chairman of Citibank and former board member of the IMF, to our campus.
The online event was hosted by Casper de Vries, Professor of Monetary Economics, and featured a presentation by Onno Ruding about exchange rates and how to adjust within the monetary union and the banking and capital markets union in the making. This was followed by a book presentation of Ruding’s memoirs, entitled 'Balance - It was about more than just money'.
A few alumni were physically present at the event such as Annegeke Jansen, who completed her master's degree in Economics and Business, specialising in International Economics, in 2018. She currently works as a Junior Economist at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Also present was Pieter Hasekamp, Director of CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis since March 2020. Hasekamp studied Economics & Business Economics at Erasmus School of Economics and graduated in 1989.
